The 5 Best Resorts to Take Your Family in Egypt

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Within reasonable flying time, around five hours, and with sunshine all-year-round, there are several popular resorts in Egypt, offering a huge range of activities for everyone. Before you take your family on a holiday to Egypt, it’s worth finding out a little about the different resorts. You should also find out before you travel which facilities are available for children; some hotels are specifically geared towards youngsters, providing cots, high chairs, flexible mealtimes, children's paddling pools, as well as specialized Kids Clubs.

Here are five suggestions for family-friendly resorts.

Sharm el Sheikh
One of the most well-known Egyptian resorts, Sharm el Sheikh has everything you need. If you have older children, then diving can be a fantastic experience for them. You can arrange pool diving for children 8 years and over, and those over 10 years can try open-water diving. For spills and thrills in the water, visit the Egyptian-themed Cleo Park, with slides, tubes, wave pools, and a pool for the little ones.

Hurghada
Hurghada is a thriving resort with lots to offer an energetic family. Again, there are opportunities for diving and snorkelling and a newly-built water park. There are plenty of water sports to try, and some hotels have facilities for children, including a children's menu, kiddie pools, cots and high chairs available on request, and soft play areas. Some also have a Kids Club.

El Gouna
El Gouna offers a host of water sports, such as kite surfing and paddle-boarding, as well as horse-riding. The Cheeky Monkey centre has an air-conditioned play park, a picnic area, and other activities such as mini-golf and football. For an unforgettable experience, take a semi-submarine trip to view the sea-life, including beautiful fish, and maybe even dolphins; this is suitable even for very small children.

Marsa Alam
Marsa Alam is a quieter resort, perhaps giving you more of a taste of the real Egypt. Its main claim to fame is its outstanding diving and snorkelling. Several hotels offer excellent facilities for children, including organised play sessions, and kids' activities in the evenings.

Taba Heights
Each hotel here has its own saltwater lagoon, making bathing very safe, even for tiny children. There is also a coral reef close to the shore, with great opportunities for snorkelling and viewing stunning fish, such as angel fish, parrot fish, and maybe an octopus. Older children might enjoy a visit to the C12th fort on Pharaoh's Island, or the nearby Fjord with its scenic views, much favoured by filmmakers.

So, if you are looking for a family holiday with a difference, giving you more than just another great summer holiday, then why not take a look at all that Egypt has to offer?
