What To Do When The Ski Season Ends?

Saturday, February 11, 2017

Have you ever wondered what goes on in Colorado when the snow starts to vanish and the skiers go home? Let’s take a peek at one of the many resorts and find out what you can enjoy in the area.

Keystone Park is a stunning mountain range and boy! Does it look different when you see it uncovered from the blanket of snow. One of the best, although slower than you are used to, ways of exploring is on horseback. You’ll get a real understanding of the terrain and what exactly lies beneath your skis. It can be a really great way of getting to understand a mountain which could help you improve your speed when you get back here next season. You don’t need to worry about packing any equipment as the local stables can provide you with all of that. Just saddle up and enjoy a few hours of this stunning countryside.

If you have ever fancied trying your hand and lake or fly fishing then there are opportunity to do both in the Colorado Rockies. You can either spend the day learning how to cast in the cold currents of the river, think Brad Pitt in A River Runs Through It, or you could go with a more peaceful experience on one of the fishing lakes. Big Ed’s Fishing Ventures can take you out and provide you with all the gear, including bait, then help you cast your way. If you are heading out here for the fishing, feel free to bring your own rods, Mountain Star Transportation offer hotel transfers all year round. Rainbow Trout is in abundance and if you have bought your children then Big Ed will help teach them to master the basics whilst you sit by your swim and settle back for some deep relaxation.

If that wasn’t enough chillaxing, how about heading back up the mountain to try a little mountain top yoga? You can grab a gondola to the top of the mountain (they run all year round) then take in the amazing views, 10 miles of snow-topped mountains covered in rich green grass and beautiful wild flowers. You can then head a little further along to get your blood pumping again with one of the winter activites that manages to cling on all year round, snow tubing. Summer snow tubing is fantastic. You can link up together or head down alone, one thing is for sure, you’ll be up and down most of the afternoon with a smile on your face.

Of course another reason to head out is the Apres Ski, ok so there is more Apres than Ski going on but a fantastic cheese fondue is still waiting for you after all your summer fun. You can even have Apres Ski delivered to your apartment! Just in case you are too tired to head out.

Resorts across the world are full of brilliant adventures in the summer seasons. So enjoy your favourite winter destinations all year round.
