With twenty-four works, the Belvedere holds the world's largest collection of oil paintings by this iconic artist, including the two masterpieces from his Golden Period, Kiss (Lovers) and Judith, major portraits (Sonja Knips, Fritza Riedler, and Johanna Staude etc.), landscapes, and allegorical depictions. The collection also includes one of Klimt's sketchbooks and his monumental Beethoven Frieze at the Vienna Secession. Gustav Klimt's masterpieces are on permanent display at the Upper Belvedere. In this comprehensive collection, Klimt's development can be traced from his early explorations of Historicism through to Secessionism and finally to his late work, which reveals the influence of the Fauves and the younger generation of Austrian artists such as Egon Schiele.
The Museum The Belvedere in Vienna is one of the leading museums worldwide. Its famous art collection includes works ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. Austrian art in an international context is presented in three locations. Highlights include the world's largest collection of Gustav Klimt paintings as well as prominent works from the periods of Viennese Biedermeier, Austrian Baroque, Vienna around 1900, and French Impressionism. The institution's central tasks focus on exhibiting, researching, collecting, communicating, and preserving. Ongoing advancements and digitalization in all areas ensures the Belvedere's significance as an outstanding museum of the future. ❤️ While you are here, you can check out my IG https://www.instagram.com/sillydrunkfish 🗽 New York City 🗽 [4K]🗽Long Island City | New York City Vlog | NYC Queens | Manhattan Skyline 🌃
