Apple IPad 2 Review

Friday, April 01, 2011

I waited 3 hours at Flushing Best buy to buy the IPad 2, pretty crazy huh?! That should tell you how excited I was about Apple’s latest device. I'm blogging on it right now. This thing is real sweet, much better than the first version. I didnt expect the thinness and speed to be that big of a deal, but it is. Also, the screen seems a lot brighter and crisper than the first version.

Since I bought it on the launch day (March) , I can’t seem to be able to let go of it. I want to touch it all the time, In fact I'm able to replace my Asus Eeepc 1000 HE netbook for daily use.

The design of the iPad 2 is a beauty, but in speaking of art, IPhone 4 is the winner. Since iPad 2 is not a dramatic design change from the previous model, I was pretty disappointed. I was expecting it would be the same concept like iPhone 4, the aluminum design and matching color in the back, even though it didn't meet my expectation, but it is definitely thinner and lighter. But still too heavy to hold in one hand for more than a few minutes.

I never though the camera on iPad 2 could be use as a regular camera, turns out it's not as bad as I thought, but still can't compare to iPhone 4. But it doesn’t matter whether the camera is good or not because the iPad 2 wasn’t made to be used as a camera.

The battery on the IPad 2 is amazing, up to 10 hours wifi use without charging, but note: it takes a while to fully charge, I would say take the whole night to charge the iPad 2 up to 100%. Overall the battery life is great!

I can't tell you how much I love apple products, especially latest Mac Pro, IPhone 4, and now my new pet, IPad 2. Since I paid over $500 for both the iPad 2 and apple smart cover, I have to invest in some body protection and productive apps. I bought Zagg full body protection for the front and back of the IPad 2. Note: Beware the little black towel that came with the box, it put few scratches on the front cover. Overall the smart cover is brilliant, very practical for intensive usage of the iPad, especially great for lazy bum. The magnetic design on the upper bright hand corner will automatic turn off and on for the iPad 2.

There are few apps is a must for the iPad 2, such as Quick Office (I am able to create doc and power point with it), Smurf!, CNN, IlovMozart, Pageonce And Blogger+ (if you're a blogger like me)

At the end of the day, the iPad 2 is an amazing device that could replace a netbook. The iPad 2 is evolutionary, and definitely can make your daily life become easier.
