Weird Japanese Culture - Gang Bang

A hundred couples having sex in the same room? Nowadays, when we think of Japanese culture, we know there’s more to sushi, teriyaki, samurai and ninja. There’s also manga, sailor girl uniforms and Aibo. And then there are cultural elements which keep one scratching his head in wonder. I been told by my Japanese friend about some of the "new culture" in Japan, which is shocking me. Practices which are generally taboo in most Asian cultures, and even the west, but treated with indifference, if not taken in objectively by the Japanese. Religion is not necessarily a moralizer, and sex and sexuality seems to be viewed from a different perspective.

Take the following photos as an example. I came across them in internet. Are they a fertility culture, the new youngster's style? Or is this a far out dating gimmick like Lovapalooza? Or is it just extreme porn? I really have no idea. (scratching my head)
